  • Joseph Lum, SEnior Pastor

    Joe was born and raised in Seattle, was saved by the Lord Jesus from his sins at a young age, and called to the ministry after his studies at the UW (BS Electrical Engineering, 1992). He was ordained in 1998, educated at The Master’s Seminary (Master of Divinity, 1995), and Dallas Theological Seminary (Master of Sacred Theology 1998; Doctor of Ministry 2005 in Biblical Counseling). He assisted in the planting of Living Hope Bible Church, has served there in various roles since 1995 and as the senior pastor since 2001. He enjoys spending time with his family, fellowship with other believers, worshiping the Lord, home projects, working out, and has been very involved in short-term missions often with a focus on training pastors (Cambodia, India, Philippines, Uganda, Mexico, & Honduras). He served for four years as a board member of Action International Ministries, a mission agency reaching the neediest people in the world with the Gospel. He is the co-contributor to the following books: “The Deity of Christ,” Ch. 8 in Preach Christ, CGM Publishers, 2016; and “Homosexuality, Marriage, and the Bible” Ch. 1 & 2 in Homosexuality, Gay Marriage and The Bible, CGM Publishers, 2015. His favorite scriptures include Ecclesiastes 12:13, Acts 20:24, 2 Timothy 2:15, and 2:24. 

  • barry martin, elder

    Barry was born in California and relocated to Washington in 1973 with his wife Margaret, one daughter and twin sons. He was saved in 1984 at the age of 40 and is presently retired. He loves serving at Living Hope Bible Church and enjoys outdoor activities. 

  • wil wong, elder

    Wil grew up in the Seattle area and has been a part of Living Hope Bible Church since its inception.  He's been privileged to watch the church grow both spiritually and numerically.  Wil was saved late in grade school and has served in various ministries through the years.  He loves spending time with his wife Vera and their three kids.  Will enjoys sports and is a big fan of the Seahawks and Huskies.

  • andrew chang, elder (term begins January 2021)

    Born in Taiwan, Andrew immigrated to the U.S. at age 10 and grew up in Northern California. Andrew and his wife Shirley moved to the Seattle area in 1997, and have been blessed with a daughter and a son. Andrew accepted Christ at a young age. Since attending LHBC in 2002, he has served in various ministries, most consistently on the Missions Committee. He works as an anesthesiologist at Swedish Medical Center. Using his medical skills, Andrew has been active in medical missions, most recently serving in Bangladesh and in New York City through Samaritan's Purse. Andrew is currently enrolled at Dallas Theological Seminary and pursuing a degree in Biblical Theology. In his free time, Andrew enjoys swimming, reading, photography, and traveling.

  • vernon chee, deacon (2nd terM begins january 2021)

    Vern was born in Bremerton, WA and raised in San Francisco and Seattle. He graduated from the University of Washington and currently works for Boeing. He is married to Bing and are blessed with two sons.  He was saved in 1989 and has attended and served at Living Hope Bible Church since its inception.  He is involved in the A/V Ministry, active in small group, and was instrumental in the acquisition of the LHBC facility.

  • chris rogers, deacon (term begins january 2021)

    Chris was born in California, but has spent his childhood and adult life in Western Washington.  He became a Christian when he was 22 years old and is incredibly grateful for what God did and is doing in his life! He actually became a Christian in an empty apartment just two blocks from Living Hope. Ask him about the details. Sara agreed to be his wife 25 years ago, and so far they have 5 children and 2 grandchildren.

  • stacy lew, deaconess

    Stacy was born and raised in Seattle. She graduated from the University of Washington, studying Industrial Engineering and Multnomah Seminary, earning a graduate bible certificate. Stacy was saved at age 5 at a VBS and committed her life to Christ at age 13. She is married to her high school sweetheart Adam and they have three children. Together, they enjoy sports and serving others for God's glory.

  • margaret martin, deaconess (2nd term begins jan 2021)

    Margaret was born and raised in Southern California where she first met her husband Barry at the age 12. They married nine years later and raised three children. They moved from California to Washington in the 70's. Margaret came to know the Lord Jesus at the age of 38 and has tried to dedicate her life to Him since then.  She loves serving at Living Hope Bible Church, having bible study at her home, working in the yard, sewing, tending with her husband to two old Labrador Retrievers, and when the time permits, traveling in their trailer.

  • daniel emme, director of worship ministry

    Born and raised in Kent, WA, Daniel grew up going to church with his family and was saved in high school at youth group. After graduating from Moody Bible Institute with a degree in Music and Worship, he was called to the music ministry. He and his wife, Ana, got married in 2019 and have a 1 year old son. They also own and operate Emme Music Studio, teaching private lessons in King County. Daniel has served as Director of Worship Ministry at Living Hope Bible Church since July 2021.

  • karen berger, children's ministry coordinator

    Karen was born in California, but moved to the Bellevue area when she was five years old and has lived in the area ever since. She was saved at a young age and grew up attending and serving alongside her family at church. Staying local, she graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Home & Family Life Education and a K-8 Teaching Certificate. Using her degree, she has taught in the public, private, and homeschooling fields for the past 26 years. Her teaching role at home is coming to an end as two of her four homeschooled children are already in college and the other two are finishing high school. Since her college years, she has volunteered as a teacher or ministry leader in Children's Ministry at the churches she's attended. She has also been employed as a Nursery Director for two different organizations. After attending LHBC for six years with her husband Rick and their children, Karen joined LHBC staff as the Children's Ministry Coordinator in March 2019.

  • MeMe birchfield, bookkeeper

    Born in Taipei, Taiwan, MeMe moved to the United States at the age of two and grew up in Houston, TX. She graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Human Biology. After a year in medical school in San Antonio, TX, MeMe moved back to the Bay Area, got married, and taught in a Christian elementary school for three years. She has homeschooled her seven children (four girls, three boys) and is currently teaching violin lessons and playing in her local symphony orchestra. She has been a Bookkeeper with Living Hope Bible Church since late August 2019.

  • Wendy Mar, Administrative Assistant

    Originally from San Francisco, CA, Wendy came up to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administrations and stayed in the Pacific Northwest. Wendy accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at age 7 at VBS and reaffirmed her faith in high school. She enjoys spending time with her husband and four kids. She was part of the core team that led to what is now Living Hope Bible Church and has been an Administrative Assistant since November 2017.

  • nita susanto, administrative assistant

    Upon graduating from high school in Indonesia, Nita came to the United States to pursue her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree  in Graphic Design from Iowa State University. She was involved in the Indonesian Christian Fellowship back in college and during one of the college retreats, was saved and accepted Jesus as her personal Savior.  In that fellowship, she met her husband, Andy, and have been blessed with two children. She takes delight in cooking and baking for her family, gardening, traveling, and interior design.  She has been an Administrative Assistant with Living Hope Bible Church since December 2018.
